Lady Lancer Get Away Tie vs. Johnson & Wales

The Lady Lancers had a successful trip to Charlotte Tuesday evening and grinded out a 3-3 tie versus Division 3 college Johnson & Wales.  The game started with a breakaway foul in the box on Lanie Hackworth which led to Rayna Simmons slotting away the Penalty kick 3 minutes into the game.  The Lancers were led in goal by Courtney Rogers making 12 saves on the night.  The second goal of the night for Lancers came from a great drive down the left side of the field by Burns Brazzell and she drilled in a left footed near post goal.  This tied the game up at 2 midway through the second half.  The Wildcats scored their third goal to take the lead with 15 minutes remaining on a scramble in front of net but the Lancers evened the score up with less than 10 minutes to go after an incredible upper 90 goal off a free kick from Rayna Simmons.   The team then battled through overtime to finish off the game at 3-3.  The team defense was the key for the night and the Lancers now go back to region play next week with 3 straight games (Monday - Wednesday) to try to work their way to the top of the Region standings.
