Nick Calhoun was named the head baseball coach at USCL in August of 2017. Before becoming the head coach at USCL, he spent the prior two years as a graduate assistant at Bethany College, graduating with his master’s degree in 2017. While at Bethany College, his main on field duties were coaching the entire defense, base running and 3rd base coach. During his time at Bethany College, the Bison set the school fielding percentage record in 2016 (.962) and again in 2017 (.968). He came to Bethany by way of Salem International University, an NCAA division 2 school in Clarksburg, West Virginia. While at Salem, he was in charge of coaching the hitters and outfielders along with assisting in all facets of running an NCAA division 2 program. Coach Calhoun started his collegiate coaching career at Murray State College, an NJCAA division 2 school in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Under head coach Zach Crabtree, he was responsible for coaching the outfielders and hitters. While there he helped lead the Aggies to the 2013 NJCAA Division 2 National Championship. Along with his collegiate coaching experience, he has had multiple summer collegiate stints as well. Most recently, he spent the 2016 and 2017 summers coaching under Mike Roberts for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League. He also has been involved in the West Coast League with the Kitsap Blue Jackets, the Prospect League with the Slippery Rock Sliders, and spent a summer in the Puget Sound League, a developmental league in Lacey, Washington. Coach Calhoun currently resides in Lancaster, South Carolina with his fiancé Natalie and dog Sidney.
