Lancers Sweep Surry Community College

The Lancers Baseball Team started the spring 2015 season with a sweep of the Surry Community College Knights. The Lancers won all four games. The Lancers started Saturday off with an eight to zero win. Sam Pruitt got the nod as game one starter and pitched five solid innings while striking out five. Ben Taylor and Rooke Crouch finished the last two innings. Chase Haas supplied three hits at the plate and Jonathon Sabo had three hits and drove in three runs. Zack Haralambis supplied his first homerun of the season and drove in two runs. The second game on Saturday was a nail biter as the Lancers won three to two. Gunner Deal started on the mound and went five strong innings and Josh Shailer closed out the game with his first save. Mitchell Price hit his first homerun of the spring and Chase Haas added a triple with two runs knocked in. On Sunday the Lancers finished the sweep of the Knights with an eight to two win and a four to three win. Daniel Willcutt took the mound in the first game. He pitched five innings while striking out four. Linc Powell and Nathan Elliott supplied relief work on the mound. Casey Parker supplied a double which scored two runs and Chase Haas pitched in three hits. Sabo had a hit and run driven in and Haralambis knocked in two runs with a single. Crouch and Jake Carr also had a hit a piece. The last game on Sunday was close, but the Lancers prevailed. Sabo got the call to start game four on the mound and he pitched five innings and gave up three hits and a run. Doopey Cloud pitched an inning or relief and Shailer finished the game with his second save. Haas continued his hot hitting as he belted a homerun, Mitchell Price added a triple, and Marshall Pratte smashed a two run homerun to leftfield. Tad Martin tallied a hit and a stolen base. The Lancers travel to Cochran Georgia this weekend to take on Middle Georgia State College. The Lancers will be back home on February 14th and 15th as they host the College of Southern Maryland.
