Lancers Baseball Season Comes to an End

The Lancers finished their 2018 campaign with a strong showing in the Region X Tournament. USCL entered as the 6th seed facing the 3rd seeded Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers. It was a hard fought battle until the very last out. Freshman Mike Nuñez gave the Lancers six strong innings on the mound, before turning the game over to Brady Smith. Smith shut the Pioneers down for two innings, giving up no runs and no hits. The Lancers came from behind in the Top of the 9th to take a 5-4 lead. Then, Brock Robinson slammed the door to earn the save for Lancaster. Jonny Watts led the USCL offense going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Walker McDowell and Todd Mattox collected two hits apiece, as well. Lancers Sweep Limestone in Home Opener

The Lancers opened up a 12-game home stand Wednesday night with a double header against Limestone JV. USCL won game one 21-1 in five innings, and won game two 8-1. The sweep brings the Lancers' record to 4-3 on the season. USC-Lancaster has now won 4 out of the last 5 games heading into a four game series with Bryant and Stratton (VA) this weekend.
In game one, the offense exploded, scoring 21 runs. Josh Evans hit the first pitch of the game over the left-centerfield fence. USCL would go on to score 13 runs in the first inning. Mark Kneece, Nick Cicci, Jonny Watts, and Jackson Barrett each hit homeruns, while Evans and Todd Mattox had two apiece. Mattox finished the game with 3 hits and 6 RBIs. Freshman Michael Lewis earned his first win in his first start, throwing two shutout innings. Ryan Knowles, Austin Muse, and Holden Nobles each pitched an inning of relief to close out the Lancer victory. 

Redshirt Freshman Levi Parker made his first start in game two, throwing two shutout innings. He was the winning pitcher in a 8-1 game. Brady Smith, Chase Coker, Mark Kneece, Tyler Fox, and Brock Robinson threw an inning of relief to seal the win for USCL. Thomas Scott finished the game with 2 RBIs. The Lancers finished off the two-game sweep in impressive fashion outscoring Limestone by a combined score of 29-2. USCL is at home the next two weekends where they play host to Bryant and Stratton (VA) and Wake Tech .

Indian Land High School senior Danyelle McCorkle has signed her Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Lancers Volleyball Program in the fall of 2018.  Danyelle will be majoring in Biology and will play outside hitter for the Lady Lancers.  Read more.

Men's Soccer Tryouts Scheduled for January 25th

The USC Lancaster Men's Soccer Program will be holding open tryouts for anyone interested in attending USC Lancaster and playing for the Lancers on January 25th, 2018 at 2:00. The tryouts will be held at the Lancers home field. Please bring the appropriate equipment and a copy of an up to date physical form is needed in order to participate in the tryouts.
